7 Ideas on How to Make Money With Side Hustles

I probably don’t have to tell you why a side hustle is a great idea, but it’s hard not to. Side hustles are a great way to diversify your income.

Let’s say you have a 9 - 5 job with a weekly income. What happens if you get laid off or even fired? You’re now relying on your savings and MAYBE an unemployment income from the government.

With side hustles, you still have an income coming in that will help soften the blow.

Not only that, but most jobs today just don’t pay enough. Wages suck even for professional level jobs and life is expensive.

Side hustles bring in extra income so you don’t have to rely only on your jobs income.

I could go on and on, but as you probably already know… Sides hustles are awesome! There are so many great benefits to them.

So, if you don’t have a side hustle yet, I wanted to throw out some easy to start side hustle ideas you could start today to begin making some extra income!

1. Ebay Reselling

 Ebay

Ebay

I’ve seen this work first hand. My mother in law does this part time and has been able to bring in over $1,000 per month working just part time.

She heads out to garage sales on Friday and Saturday to find items she thinks she could sell on Ebay. She also checks out thrift stores to find even more things she can sell.

She brings these items home and verifies the market value, takes pictures, and lists them on Ebay. Eventually they sell and she brings home a nice little profit. It’s a cool business.

2. Virtual Assistant

 Upwork

Upwork

A virtual assistant works as needed for businesses, entrepreneurs, or just a person who needs some help.

As a virtual assistant you may help with scheduling, writing, social media, bookkeeping, etc.. Really, whatever you feel that you can help out with. You schedule your own hours and set your rate as a contractor.

It’s a great way to work from home on your hours and your terms. Plus, it helps out people who need some help but can’t afford to hire someone as an employee. It truly is a win-win situation.

It’s easy to get started as well by creating a profile on Upwork and begin reviewing virtual assistant requests.

3. Sell a Product on Etsy

Do you an idea for a product you could make at home? If so, there is a huge market available on Etsy looking for cool products to buy.

They have all kinds of products like homemade items, digital items, custom products. If you can make it and ship it, you can probably sell it on Etsy.

Not everything will be a big seller, but you can try things with little to no risk by just listing one and attempting to promote it.

Some people make part time incomes from Etsy while other have even made full time incomes.

4. Create a Course

Udemy

People love to learn new things and a course is a great way to learn. If you have a skill or knowledge that other people would like to learn. A course is an amazing way to help others and make an income at the same time.

I created That Badass Money Handbook to help others learn about money and to create an income.

Tools like Teachable and Udemy make it easy to create a course and sell it online.

5. Tutoring

 HeyTutor

HeyTutor

Are you good with math? Lots of people struggle with it and need help. Let your local school know that you are available for tutoring. Put up an ad on craigslist.

I’ve done this in the past, back when newspaper ads were the way to get clients, and I had a steady pool of income and clients pretty quickly.

Today, the internet makes it so much easier. Create a profile on HeyTutor and start working with your new clients!

6. Lawn Services

This one takes some physical work. If you are an outdoorsy type that loves working on your yard, there are lots of other people who don’t like to.

You can offer your services to your local neighborhoods. You could do grass cutting, grass treatments, mulching, gardening for flower beds, etc..

There is so much that needs to be done on a lawn and a lot of people don’t like to do it. Upscale neighborhoods have the money to outsource this and like to keep their lawns up.

Post an ad on Craigslist. Go door to door and offer your services.

7. Rent Out a Room in Your House

 Airbnb

Airbnb

Airbnb has really made this a solid option. You can rent out an unused room in your house by the night and with a little work it could pay your entire mortgage!

If you haven’t tried it out, AirBnb is very cool. Create an ad for your room and start booking your new clients.

It’s super easy and a lot fun to meet new people!
